Working in the Gig Economy (JCW Virtual Workshop)

Job Center of Wisconsin VIRTUAL WORKSHOP

Working in the Gig Economy

The "side hustle" or "second job" has been around our lives for a long time, but now cautious re-openings and an economy in recovery may provide more opportunities for workers in the Gig Economy. You may be able to share a position or design your own, with flexible shifts and combinations of remote/on-site hours. You may find that employers want to hire more independent contractors, who don't receive benefits (or coverage by some labor laws). This can be a precariat, scary, unknown labor market – or it can bring you the opened door to a great work-life balance. Today's workshop will talk about several gig labels and the many Hot Jobs in this economy, and provide tips for job seekers, including skills to highlight on your resume and cover letter.
