The Career Center has resources to help you make decisions about your college major and career. Our goal is to help customers focus on their unique combination of interests, values and skills and compare them to educational and occupational opportunities. Services are open to all community members and most are free.

WORKSHOPS

  • Career Development:
    Utilize career assesments to discover occupations that relate to your skills and interests. Research occupational information, salary and job outlook by accessing the Internet. If you have a completed resume or cover letter, the staff will provide a brief evaluation and offer suggestions for improvement.
  • Create-a-Resume:
    This class will discuss the latest trends and basic formats of a resume.
  • How to Choose a Program:
    This workshop is for anyone who wants to go to WCTC, but is unsure of a program choice.  Admissions counselors will be avaible after the workshop to address program-specific questions.
  • Interviewing:
    Through interaction and discussion, we will review the entire interview process.
  • Jump Start Your Job Search:
    Learn the most effective strategies for job seeking, including use of the Internet, resume and interviewing tips, accessing the hidden job market and staying motivated.
  • Life/Work Planning:
    Assess your personality, skills, interests, experiences, values and decision-making style to make effective choices and identify realistic career options.
  • Mock Interviewing:
    Staff from WDC interview clients for 10 minutes and provide a 10-minute critique of the interview. Resumes need to be submitted before the interview. Sign up in the Career Center.
  • Online Job Searching:
    Learn how to set up an email account, the proper way to send resumes via email to prospective employers, how to navigate popular websites and apply for jobs online.
