Economic Development
Serving as the Executive Director of the Waukesha County Economic Development Corporation (WCEDC), Bill Mitchell facilitates growing the economic base of Waukesha County. WCEDC’s mission is to design, implement and measure business development strategies that ensure Waukesha County businesses can remain globally competitive. Since 2000, Mr. Mitchell has managed the economic development expectations of WCEDC’s public and private sector stakeholders: Waukesha County Government, Waukesha County Technical College and the Waukesha County business community.
Mr. Mitchell is leading two key WCEDC initiatives: “Partnerships for Sustainability” which launched in 2009 and “Partnerships for Innovation” which is scheduled to launch in 2011. Both initiatives target small and medium-sized companies and organizations in Waukesha County to help improve bottom-line performance, global competitiveness and talent recruitment efforts.
Mr. Mitchell (BBA, Business, University of Wisconsin – Madison) has over 20 years experience in business development, including nine years experience in county and regional economic development as a founding member of the Milwaukee7 regional initiative (Certification in Economic Development, UW-Milwaukee’s Department of Urban Planning – Regional Economic Partnership).

"Ozaukee County Economic Development Overview"

Presented by Kathleen Cady Schilling, Executive Director Ozaukee Economic Development
Kathleen Cady Schilling will present and overview of Ozaukee County Economic Development, a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the business vitality of the Ozaukee economy. As such, OED works with current and potential businesses looking to expand or locate within the County. OED serves as a connector of resources, assisting businesses with both state and local financing options as well as other resources available.
Ms. Schilling has been at OED since March of 2007. This position is in coordination with the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee’s Center for Economic Development, where she was hired in 2000 to provide technical assistance to economic development organizations throughout the seven-county region. Prior to this, Ms. Cady Schilling has worked at the City of Brookfield, Wisconsin and the City of Monroe, Michigan as an economic development planner. Ms. Cady Schilling is accredited by the American Institute of Certified Planners and has a Masters in Urban Planning specializing in Economic Development.

"Overview of Washington County Economic Development "

Presented by Christian Tscheschlok, Executive Director EDWC Washington County
As Executive Director of Economic Development / Washington County (EDWC), Christian Tscheschlok provides principle leadership to a countywide public-/private development partnership that supports and nurtures the Washington County economy. EDWC accomplishes this by serving as the central voice on economic development issues; conducting an aggressive existing business development program; engaging in targeted business attraction; and supporting start-up enterprises. Tscheschlok is currently working with the EDWC Board and its 8 committees to focus and drive the organization’s development work to the next level of success and accountability.
Tscheschlok is a Certified Economic Developer with over 13 years of urban and rural economic development and redevelopment experience. His diverse background includes national and international expertise in economic development organization leadership, business recruitment and expansion, entrepreneur consultation, community development, financial packaging, incentive negotiation, project management, workforce development, public relations, lobbying and education.
Tscheschlok’s prior experience includes serving as Vice President of the Fond du Lac County Economic Development Corporation where he provided direct consultative services for business and community projects; as the first director of the Rock Falls (IL) Community Development Corporation, as a Peace Corps Fellow with the Illinois Institute for Rural Affairs; and as a volunteer project manager with the United States Peace Corps in the Slovak Republic. He holds a Master of Business Administration degree from Western Illinois University and a Bachelor of Arts in the Teaching of English from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.
