Created to assist all community members, the Workforce Development Centers provide a full range of services for gaining and maintaining quality employment. Most services are offered at no cost to participants.
JOB SEARCH WORKSHOPS
- Building Your Future Networking Group: Meet with others seeking employment, build networking opportunities and expand your employment resources.
- Create-a-Resume/Resume Workshop (Waukesha or Ozaukee/Washington): This class will discuss the latest trends and basic formats of a resume. Complete a resume packet (Waukesha) prior to attending workshop.
- Career Development: Career assessments to discover occupations that relate to your skills and interests.
- Computer Basics for Employment (Waukesha or Ozaukee/Washington): If you need to learn the basics of computer operation to conduct your job search, this two day workshop is for you. Day 1: Introduction to hardware, file management, and Microsoft Word. Day 2: Overview of e-mail and the internet.
- Effective Applications (Waukesha or Ozaukee/Washington): Learn how to complete applications properly.
- Interviewing (Waukesha or Ozaukee/Washington): Through interaction and discussion, review the entire interview process.
- Job Club: Discuss relevant job search topics with WDC experts, discuss issues/concerns in your job search and spend time networking.
- Jumpstart Your Job Search: Learn the most effective strategies for job seeking, including use of the Internet, resume and interviewing tips, accessing the hidden job market and staying motivated.
- Life/Work Planning: Gain self knowledge about your own skills, interests, values, decision- making style and experiences as it relates to employment and training options. 262-691-5578 to register.
- Managing Resources: This workshop provides the tools your need to create an effective budget.
- Mature Worker Workshop: Discuss unique job search issues facing the mature worker. Learn how to focus on your skills and experience instead of your age.
- Mock Interviewing (Waukesha or Ozaukee/Washington): Staff from WDC interview clients and provide a short critique of the interview.
- Online Job Searching: Learn how to set up an email account, the proper way to send resumes via email to prospective employers, how to navigate popular websites and apply for jobs online.
- Resume Critique Lab: If you have a resume and/or cover letter and need an objective critique, staff will provide a 10-minute evaluation.
- Realizing the Dream: Learn about current and future trends in the labor market and explore potential careers based on the results of self-exploration activities. (Parents and Students 7th - 9th grade) Call: 262-695-7848 to register.
- Tap Hidden Job Market: Learn how to find jobs, develop a personalized network and locate openings before they reach the public.
COMPUTERIZED JOB POSTINGS
- JobNet: State-wide computerized job posting system.
- TechConnect: Job listing system for students and graduates of the Wisconsin Technical College System.
- JOBcentral: Links and listings to jobs in Wisconsin and throughout the U.S.

- Employment counseling, training scholarships, job development and on-the-job training is available to employment-seeking adults who meet income guidelines.
