Career Planning is a Healthy Choice
Why be unhappy at your job when you don’t
have to be? Learn to be pro-active and make
informed career choices that can lead to
a longer life and satisfying work. The types
of work we do affect almost every aspect
of our lives – and may even lengthen
our lives. A study conducted by Duke University
between 1955 and 1975 studied factors that
affect human longevity. The top predictor
of a long life was found to be job satisfaction
– more than good health habits and
good genes!
Long life, satisfying work and financial
comfort are the rewards of pro-active career
planning. Career decision-making based on
interests, skills and dreams is a process
of discovery and evaluation that can be
learned and used throughout our working
lives.
In this era of downsizing, buyouts and
new technology, proactive career planning
is a valuable skill to learn.
